Christmas Wishes
Sakshi
- One minute read - 163 wordsOn a chilly day ahead of Xmas
I was strolling along the street
The night donned fog
And trees played with the breeze
As my podcast stopped playing –
Why’d you only call me when you’re high
Someone broke the silence on the lane
With a deep, hoarse voice
Now I know it’s dark
But who can convince the heart?
I looked for that familiar stranger
Who stopped by the book mart
Heart palpitating, I gazed at him
As he picked blue-colored The Kite Runner
“You know it’s my favorite,” I said in my mind
While he made his way to the tunnel
Did he see me stalk him,
Through his tired, sunken eyes?
Did he feel the rush but turn it down?
My hopeless soul sighed.
A car screeched to stop beside me
As if to break the still
I got in to take the opposite lane
That went all up to the hill
Guess some Christmas wishes
Are better left unfulfilled.
