A letter posted to Heaven
Sakshi
- 2 minutes read - 256 wordsSilver shining hair
And a golden nosering
Vibrant colours on your dress
And also on your crocheted mats
I guess you loved every colour
Just like you worshipped every God you knew.
I still remember the chants you made me learn
And how to bow down before closing the doors of our temple
But you never taught me
How to unsee the void at the porch every evening
And that green wooden chair where now only the dust sits.
I used to come to you for a champi
Because I liked it
Your hands, which appeared wrinkly
Were actually a mysterious map
With complex roads and rivers drawn,
Opening into an ether
Which no one had an access to but those, who could decode
That the key to the heaven
Was the attention and love you deserved
Guess I’d found that
Which is why I came to you
Because more than I liked the champi, you liked to give it.
But I’m sorry
For I was helpless that day
When you asked me if you should stay
At our home, or leave for the other home
I know you didn’t want to leave
Because the green chair and the porch were a part of your soul
Just like you were a part of my home
You’re at a better place now
And don’t worry,
Your possessions are safe
And I’ve locked all your memories
In this locker, which is my heart,
The safest place of all.
I will keep writing you
Take care, I miss you.
